I came to street photography by way of object based design and installation art. I’ve substituted the insularity of my previous studio practice while dismissing the vagaries and pretensions of the art world industrial complex, for a more sincere and vastly more personal engagement with my city and the world at large. I was born, raised, attended Pratt Institute from 1978-1982, still reside and photograph in New York City.
“Living beings dwell in their expectations rather than in their senses. If they are ever to see what they see, they must first in a manner stop living; they must photograph the idea that is flying past, veiled in its very swiftness.”
